Heehee...so, it's really billirubin, but when Aiden was born, I thought Billy Rubin was someone's name that had something to do with curing jaundice. I now know it's something different. It's what causes jaundice and is usually excreted through waste, but sometimes newborns livers aren't mature enough to get it all out. In comes phototherapy.

Sophie has to be under the lights for as much as possible to lower her bilirubin levels from 18 (as of yesterday) to 13 or lower. It was 15 when her blood was drawn this morning and we just started the phototherapy last night. So it's working it's magic pretty quickly. Hopefully we can be done by tomorrow.

gettin comfy in the suitcase
With Aiden our old pediatrician had us supplement with formula for 24 hours. Because more volume was going in, it helped to get the waste out, so his levels went down the next day. No phototherapy for him.

so sleepy!

That's pretty much all she does. Nurses like a fiend and then sleeps like mommy wishes she could. :-P All in all I'd say she's doing well. As for me, if I can get 3 hours of sleep, straight, I'm doing pretty good. Haha.

Aiden is loving on his sister like crazy. First thing he wants to do when he comes home is see her. He sits next to me when I feed her and he loves laying next to her. I took a few pictures of them when they were laying down together. Now, everytime she's on our bed he gets up there and wants me to take pictures. So cute!

that's more like it, isn't it?

Really emphasizes how much Aiden has grown when he is right beside Sophie. I'm glad she's nursing so well too! Good luck w/ the jaundice!
